Transportation

If your student attends a before- or after-school childcare program, such as Project KIDS, Kindercare, or any other individual provider any day of the week during the school year, please complete the Childcare Information Form. District 191 will provide transportation to a childcare program if it is located within your school's attendance area. 

Childcare information provides the transportation department with accurate counts as to the number of students who will actually ride the school bus and how many students can be expected at each bus stop. These counts help to plan efficient use of our buses. 

In the event that an emergency would occur on a particular bus, your school and the Transportation Department will have access to relevant information.

Please be sure to provide complete address information including the address of the child care provider. The information you provide will be considered confidential and will be used for internal school district purposes only.

Students eligible for transportation to and/or from their child care facility will then be included in bus routes for the first day of school.

For the safety of all students, one address for pick up and one address for drop off will be accommodated.

All Regular Education routes and bus stops are determined prior to the beginning of each new school year by the district Transportation Department. 

Safety and efficiency are primary considerations in establishing stops. 

District Transportation will consider changes to bus stops during and after the fourth week of each new school year, but requests must be in writing.

Parents of District 191 students who attend a non-public school located outside the school district may be reimbursed for part of the cost to transport their student(s) to and from school. The amount of the reimbursement is determined by the Minnesota Department of Education, which computes a "transportation aid" amount from the per-student aid formula. For school year 2024-25, the amount for District 191 will be $250 per pupil not to exceed $300 per family. 

Parents must request this aid in advance by completing the transportation agreement, which can be accessed by clicking the link below. Please complete this form and submit it electronically by the end of the school year (the year for which reimbursement is requested). This must be received no later than June 5, 2025, or it will be null and void.

The following information is required: 

1. Name, address and phone number of parent(s), 
2. The full name of the non-public school your student attends and its phone number, 
3. Student name, age and grade for each student transported to a non-public school. 
4. Mode of transportation service for each student, 
5. Year, make, model, serial number, passenger capacity, and license number of vehicle used to transport,  
6. Name of insurance carrier and policy number for vehicle specified in (5) above.

When we receive a completed copy of the agreement, the District 191 transportation department will hold the contract until student membership can be verified at the close of the school year. Payment is made following confirmation of attendance at the non-public school. Payments will be mailed by the end of July.
